Savings Account

Yasasa Pensioners’ Account is designed exclusively for the Government Pensioners or the widow/widowers of the pensioners offering special benefits.




The Essentials

  • A special interest rate which is higher than the normal interest rate offered for Regular Savings Accounts

  • Debit Card free of charge

  • Open either a passbook or a statement savings account

  • Pension advances up to 75% of the monthly pension

  • Special Personal Loans up to 2.5Mn with a longer repayment period

 

Benefits of Yasasa Pensioners’ Account

Higher interest rate
You can enjoy an additional interest rate of up to 0.5%p.a. over the interest rate paid for Regular Savings Accounts when you turn 60 years of age

Debit Card free of charge
A free Debit Card with year round attractive discounts

Advance of your monthly pension 
You are eligible to receive an advance up to 75% of your last month's net pension, subject to a maximum limit of Rs. 50,000/- (At least one pension should have been credited to your account)

Yasasa Pensioner’s Loan scheme
You can be eligible to apply for a Pensioner’s Loan up to 2.5 Mn with a longer repayment period (The Pensioner needs to be below 74 years of age to be eligible for this facility)

Facility of appointing a Nominee would be available.

Easy access to your account
Enjoy fast, convenient and 24 x 7 unlimited access to your account from anywhere in the world through Online Banking and Mobile Banking or through the millions of ATMs belonging to the Master and Visa networks.

You have the facility to make payments for goods and services using your ATM cum Debit card, to any merchant with a POS machine connected to the Visa or Master network.

Online Banking is offered with no first year annual fee and registration fee. Mobile Banking is offered free of charge.

International credit card
A ComBank International Credit Card could be offered with joining fee and 1st year annual fee waived off. This offer will be valid only till the age of 60 years.

 

Account opening process

All Passbook Yasasa Pensioners’ Account holders will be issued with a passbook where your transactions will be recorded. Please inform the branch immediately if your passbook is lost, stolen or misplaced.

You will receive a statement of transactions monthly or as decided when the account was opened. Please verify these transactions and notify the Bank of any discrepancy without delay.



Withdrawals

You can make withdrawals from any ATM cum Debit card or over the bank counter

If you are a Passbook Savings Account holder, please produce your passbook along with the duly completed withdrawal form when making over the counter withdrawals.

Open an account

Who can open accounts

  • Should be a Government Pensioner or widow/ widower who receives their pension through Government Pensions Department or should be a pensioner of Central Bank of Sri Lanka or Ceylon Electricity Board.

  • Should remit the monthly pension to Commercial Bank.

  • Should be age of 18 years or above.

  • Joint accounts could be opened in the following instances. 
    1. When both contributor and spouse are pensioners and intend to maintain a single account in respect of them. 
    11. Maintain joint accounts with children who are in government service

What you need to bring

  • National Identity Card, Driving License or Passport

  • Pensioners’ Identity Card 

  • You can open the account by making a minimum initial deposit of Rs 1,000/-
