The Badulla Central College, at which 3000 students receive their primary and secondary education, is the latest school to receive a fully-equipped and furnished IT laboratory, a long felt need of the school, from the Commercial Bank of Ceylon. The IT lab recently declared open by Chairman of the Commercial Bank CSR Trust Mr. Lakshman Hulugalle, was the 96th such facility donated by Sri Lanka’s largest private bank under its corporate social responsibility initiative to promote computer literary among students on a national scale. This programme has to date benefitted more than 100,000 students. All schools that receive computer laboratories from the Bank are provided brand new computers with licensed software and accessories such as computer tables, printers and chairs. The Bank also provides assistance to maintain and upgrade these computer labs when necessary to ensure that the facilities benefit many batches of students.
