Mr Kanagasabapathy Sripavan was appointed as the Chairman of Commercial Bank in December 2020.
Mr Sripavan was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in January 2015 by His Excellency, the President and held office until March 2017. During this period he functioned as the Chairman of the Judicial Services Commission of Sri Lanka, Chairman of the Incorporated Council of Legal Education, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Judges’ Institute and Chairman of the Superior Court Complex Board of Management.
He was enrolled as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 1977. He obtained a Diploma in Industrial Law from the University of Colombo in 1992 and Master of Laws from the University of London in 1994. Having joined the Attorney General’s Department in February 1978, as an “Acting State Counsel” he was promoted to the post of “Senior State Counsel” in 1989 by the Public Service Commission. Thereafter, on the recommendation of the Attorney General he was appointed as a “Deputy Solicitor General” in 1996.
Mr Sripavan functioned as the Head of the Court of Appeal Unit in the Attorney General’s Department and handled a large volume of work, both in the Court of Appeal and in the Supreme Court including Bills and Fundamental Rights Applications. In addition to his duties as a Deputy Solicitor General, the Attorney General appointed him as a “Legal Consultant” for the National Savings Bank, prior to the elevation to the Court of Appeal Bench.
He was appointed as a Judge of the Court of Appeal in May 2002 and was elevated to the position of the President of the Court of Appeal in March 2007 by his Excellency the President. In March 2008 he was elevated to the Supreme Court Bench.
Prof. A K W Jayawardane has been serving as a Non-Executive Independent Director of the Commercial Bank since April 2015 and currently he is the Chairman of CBC Tech Solutions, a subsidiary of the Commercial Bank and the Chairman of the Board Tech Committee.
Prof. A K W Jayawardane is currently a Commission Member of the University Grants Commission and a Senior Professor in Civil Engineering. He served as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Moratuwa for six years, Dean, Faculty of Engineering for six years and as an Endowed Professor in Entrepreneurship at the University of Moratuwa for one year.
He obtained BSc Eng Degree in Civil Engineering with first class honours from the University of Moratuwa, a Master of Science Degree in Construction from the Loughborough University of Technology UK and a PhD in Construction Management from the same University.
Prof. Jayawardane served as the President of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka. He is also a Director of Sierra Cables PLC and a member of Board of Management of several other institutions. He is also a Corporate Member, a Fellow and an International Professional Engineer of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL), CEng, FIE(SL), IntPE(SL), Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences of Sri Lanka, FNAS(SL), Founder Member of the Society of Structural Engineers Sri Lanka MSSE(SL), Fellow of the Institute of Project Managers, Sri Lanka, FIPM (SL), Life Member of Sri Lanka Association for Advancement of Science and a Graduate Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors GSLID.
Mr Sivakrishnarajah Renganathan is a senior banker who has served Commercial Bank throughout the entirety of his working career. He was appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer in July 2018.
Mr Renganathan has held several key positions in the Bank and been deeply involved in its evolution and growth. In July 2003, he led the Bank’s acquisition of the Bangladesh operations of Credit Agricole Indosuez (CAI), Commercial Bank’s first ever acquisition of a banking operation, and was appointed Country Manager – Bangladesh, in which capacity he led a team of 225 over a five year tenure, building up the Bank’s operations in Bangladesh.
On his return to Sri Lanka from Bangladesh, Mr Renganathan was appointed the Bank’s first Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and was responsible for preparing and implementing the Bank’s integrated risk management policy. In April 2011, he was appointed to the pivotal position of Deputy General Manager – Personal Banking in charge of the entire branch network of the Bank.
Mr Renganathan is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK (FCMA), Fellow of the IFS School of Finance, UK (Fifs), Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), Fellow of the London Institute of Banking and Finance, UK (FLIBF), Fellow of the Institute of Bankers Sri Lanka (FIB), and a Member of Sri Lanka Institute of Directors.
He is also an associate member of Financial Services Institute of Australasia. He has received extensive Leadership, Management and Banking training in the USA, London, Japan, Thailand, Abu Dhabi, India and many other countries.
Mr Renganathan currently serves as the Managing Director of Commercial Development Company PLC, Deputy Chairman of Commercial Bank of Maldives (Pvt) Ltd., Director of Lanka Financial Services Bureau Ltd., Director of Sri Lanka Bank’s Association (Guarantee) Ltd., Vice Chairman of International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka, Executive Member of The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and an Executive Member of The Council for Business with Britain.
He has served among others, as a Member of the General Council of the Institute of Bankers of Bangladesh, as founder President of the Sri Lanka Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Executive Committee member of the Foreign Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Mr K. Dharmasiri is a senior banker with years of diversified banking experience both within and outside Sri Lanka. . He was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director to the Board of Commercial Bank in July 2015.
Mr Dharmasiri graduated from the University of Colombo with a First Class Honours in Commerce and Holds a Bachelor of Philosophy in Economics. He is also an associate member of the institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka.
He commenced his career with Bank of Ceylon (BOC) in 1975 and retired as the General Manager/Chief Executive Officer of the Bank in 2013. Prior to the appointment as the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Dharmasiri has performed duties as an Additional General Manager and a Deputy General Manager covering wide range of banking activities mainly, Corporate & Offshore Banking, Recoveries, Finance & Planning, Marketing and Internal Audit.
Mr Dharmasiri served as a Non- executive Nominee Director on the Boards of Janashakthi Insurance Ltd, Sabaragamuwa Development Bank, Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka PLC, BOC Travels (Private) Ltd, BOC Property Development & Management (Private) Ltd, Ceybank Holiday Homes (Private) Ltd, Hotels Colombo (1963) Ltd, Ceybank Asset Management Ltd, Lanka Securities (Private) Ltd, Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka, Lanka Financial Services (Bureau) Ltd and Lanka Clear (Private) Ltd. Bank of Ceylon (UK) Ltd., and Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka. He has been a Member of Sri Lanka Institute of Directors since December 2015.
Mr Lakshman Dushyantha Niyangoda has a proven track record of over 32 years in the corporate environment and is qualified in various management fields both locally as well as internationally.
He holds Consultant, Business, and Administration experience for a period of 37 years and was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director to the Board of Commercial Bank in August 2016.
Mr Niyangoda holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Science from the University of Peradeniya. He is a Member of numerous professional bodies, including the Council for Agricultural Research Policy of Sri Lanka, Standing Committee of Agriculture and Veterinary Studies, University Grants Commission and the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya. He has been a Member of Sri Lanka Institute of Directors since March 2000.
Mr Lakshman Dushyantha Niyangoda is presently serving as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of A Baur & Co. (Pvt) Ltd and counts over 30 years of experience with the Company.
He served as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of A Baur & Co. (Pvt) Ltd., Chief Operating Officer, A Baur & Co. (Pvt) Ltd., and a Director of Baur Asia (Pte) Ltd., Singapore.
Ms Nawalage Therese Manouri Shiromal Cooray is a senior finance professional with wide experience in the private sector. She was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director to the Board of Commercial Bank in September 2016.
Ms Shiromal Cooray Holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Colombo and a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK (FCMA). She has been a Member of Sri Lanka Institute of Directors since July 2006.
She is currently the Managing Director of Jetwing Travels (Pvt) Ltd. and Chairperson Jetwing Hotels Ltd.
Ms Cooray has held several key positions. She was the Former Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors., Director – Finance and Administration on the Board of J Walter Thompson, Non-Executive Director on the Boards of Capital Alliance Finance PLC, Trade Finance and Investments PLC, and served on the Boards of many other private and public companies. She was also a Member, Advisory Council for Tourism and a member of the Board of the Management of several other institutions.
Mr Themiya Loku Bandara Hurulle was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director to the Board of Commercial Bank in April 2017.
Mr Hurulle holds a Diploma in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (Dip.R) London, Southbank University, Engineering Apprentices I & II Programmes from the University of Moratuwa and Certificate in Science and Technology of Refrigeration – City & Guilds Institute, London. He has been a Member of Sri Lanka Institute of Directors since August 2017.
He currently serves as a Director of Kanrich Finance Ltd.
Mr Hurulle served as the Senior Manager/Engineer, Tudawe Trading Co. (Pvt) Ltd., Director-General, Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka, (TRCSL), Design and Applications Engineer, Metropolitan Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Ltd., London, Divisional Manager/Chief Engineer, Walker Sons & Co. Ltd., and as a Corporate Member (M. Inst.R) of the Institute of refrigeration, Surrey, United Kingdom (1977/1978).
He was awarded the INFOTEL “92 Pioneering” award at INFOTEL 2017 and was a member of the Public Representations Committee (PRC-CR) in Constitutional Reform 2016/2017.
Mr Manatunge joined Commercial Bank in 1989. He held the position as the Deputy General Manager Corporate Banking. Under Mr Manatunge, the Corporate Banking Division of the Bank experienced rapid growth in the loan book and in areas such as Trade Finance fee-based income while maintaining the quality of advances.
He was appointed as an Executive/Non-Independent Director and Chief Operating Officer in July 2018.
Mr Manatunge counts for 30 years of experience at the Bank, having held corporate management/senior positions such as Chief Risk Officer, Head of Credit Risk and Chief Manager – Corporate Banking prior to being appointed as the Deputy General Manager – Corporate Banking.
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK (FCMA) and has obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura with a Merit Pass. He is also a Fellow Member of the Institute of Bankers – Sri Lanka (FIB) and a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (FCMA).
Mr Manatunge was instrumental in forming the Association of Banking Sector Risk Professionals, Sri Lanka and was the President in the year 2014. He has also served as a Council Member of the Association of Professional Bankers (APB), and a member of the CIMA – “Thought Leadership Committee”.
He was a visiting lecturer for the MBA Degree Programme at the University of Colombo and a resource person at the Training Centre of Central Bank of Sri Lanka and Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka.
He was adjudged the “Chief Information Security Officer of the Year” at the EC – Council Global CISO Forum held in Atlanta – USA in September 2013 in recognition of his outstanding contribution in strengthening and promoting information security practices and IT Risk Management.
Mr Sanath Manatunge currently serves as a director of the Bank’s Maldivian subsidiary – Commercial Bank of Maldives Private Ltd. and served as a Director, CBC Tech Solutions Ltd. which is a subsidiary of the Bank.
Ms Judy Lee is a pioneer and leading expert in quantitative risk management and its applications to strategy. She has over 30 years of experience as a banker, capital markets expert and partner in management consulting firms serving CEOs and Boards in US and Asia.
Ms Lee is currently Managing Director of Dragonfly LLC which she co-founded in 2000. The New York based consulting firm provides strategy, risk management and investment advice to Boards, CEOs, CFOs, Business heads in US, Europe and Asia, covering all sectors, corporates, financial institutions and governments.
She is also CEO of Dragonfly Capital Ventures (DFC) which she founded in 2009. DFC develops and invests in renewable energy in South East Asia. DFC also develops investment pipeline in the US for Asian clients.
She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Temasek Life Sciences Accelerator and is an Entrepreneur-in-Residence. She is on the Board of Overseers of NYU Stern School of Business. Ms Lee has served as Board Director of Solar Frontier, a renewable energy subsidiary of Japan-listed Showa Shell Sekiyu.
Ms Lee is co‐author of the books “What Every CEO Must Know About Risk” and “RAROC and Risk Management”.
She was an Adjunct Professor at Singapore Management University where she developed and taught Enterprise Risk Management for 10 years. She has also taught Risk Management at Columbia University, New York.
Prior to Dragonfly, Ms Lee was a key member of the pioneering team that developed quantitative risk methodology at Bankers Trust in the late 1980s. She ran the bank’s daily global risk quantification and reporting. She also worked on derivatives and other capital markets products and was risk manager reporting to the President for BT Securities.
Ms Lee holds an MBA from the Wharton School and a BS from NYU Stern School of Business. She also attended the Women on Boards programe at Harvard Business School.
Since 2000, Ms Lee has lived and worked in both New York and Asia.
Mr Senanayakege Raja Pushpakumara (Raja Senanayake) is a Fellow Member of CA Sri Lanka with 30 years of post-qualifying experience and holds a B.Com (Special) degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura with a second class upper division pass and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management from the PIM of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Having completed his articles at Ernst & Young and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, he joined Singer Industries (Ceylon) PLC in 1991 as the Financial Accountant. In 1994, Mr Senanayake joined Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC as the Senior Manager Finance and worked for 13 years and was the Assistant General Manager (Finance & Planning) when he resigned. He also served as the Chief Financial Officer at the Nations Trust Bank PLC.
He works for Smart Media The Annual Report Company and is currently heading the Smart Academy, an International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) Accredited Training Foundation Partner.
Mr Senanayake is also an Independent Non-Executive Director of Serendib Finance Ltd., a fully owned subsidiary of Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC since October 2014, an Independent Non-Executive Director of Senkadagala Finance PLC since April 2017 and a Director of Virtual Capital Technologies (Pvt) Ltd., a software development company that specialises in enterprise solutions in the real estate, retail and telecom spaces catering to the New Zealand and the Australian markets since August 2017.
Mr Senanayake is passionate about and possesses extensive domain knowledge on the financial services industry, financial management and corporate reporting in particular, including such aspects as risk management, capital management, corporate governance, compliance, sustainability and integrated reporting. Besides many other local and overseas training programmes, he has undergone training on banking and finance with Euromoney and on general management with the National University of Singapore.
Mr Rajapaksha was appointed as Company Secretary on 1st April 2019. He joined the Bank on 7th February 2011 as the Assistant Company Secretary and counts over 16 years of experience in the field of Company Secretarial Practice.
Mr Rajapaksha is an Associate of the Chartered Governance Institute, UK (formerly known as Institute of the Chartered Secretaries and Administrators, UK) and a Graduate of the Institute of Chartered Corporate Secretaries (ICCS) of Sri Lanka and he held the position of Assistant Company Secretary of Bank from February 2011 to March 2019 prior to being appointed as the Company Secretary.
He is a member of Sri Lanka Institute of Directors since September 2017.
Mr Rajapaksha currently serves as the Vice President of the Chartered Governance Institute, Sri Lanka Branch and he served as the Company Secretary of Serendib Finance Ltd. from 2014 to 2019.
