Mr Dheerasinghe, an eminent Economist with a distinguish career of over 40 years in the banking industry was appointed to the Board on December 20, 2011. Prior to his appointment as Chairman on 29th of July 2014, Mr Dheerasinghe was the Deputy Chairman of the Bank. Previously Mr Dheerasinghe was the Senior Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and was also the Chairman of the Monetary Policy Committee and Sovereign Ratings Committee. He was also the Alternate Executive Director for Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Sri Lanka at the International Monetary Fund. Mr Dheerasinghe has published widely in many aspects of economics including debt capital markets and financial globalization and has over 30 referred articles in reputed journals and as book chapters in Sri Lanka and overseas. He has also presented more than 50 papers at international seminars. Mr Dheerasinghe currently serves in the Board of Management of National Science Foundation. He is also a Visiting Lecturer and Moderator/Examiner in Universities of Colombo, Kelaniya, Sri Jayawardenapura and Moratuwa and several professional bodies in Sri Lanka. He has made a significant contribution to the development of the government debt securities market by innovating and structuring key financial instruments and developing its institutional framework. Mr Dheerasinghe is a graduate of the University of Colombo where he has obtained B.Com and B.Phil (Econ) with first class honours. He has obtained M.A.(Econ) from the University of Leeds, UK and is an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka and holder of Honorary ACI Diploma.
Mr Jayawardena was appointed to the Board of Commercial Bank in December 2011 and was appointed as Deputy Chairman of the Bank on 29th July 2014. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and accounts for nearly 35 years post qualifying experience both locally and overseas specializing in Finance & Treasury Operations. He was with Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines for 13 years in many senior positions including the Head of Treasury, managing an international loan portfolio of over US$ 2 billion. Currently he serves as the Group Consultant at Chemanex PLC after stepping down as the Company’s Managing Director in March 2013. He is the Chairman of Lanka Rating Agency (Formerly Ram Rating) and Commercial Insurance Brokers (Pvt) Ltd. He is also a Group Director of CIC Holdings PLC and John Keells Foods PLC. Mr. Jayawardena is also a Member of the Monetary Policy Consultative Committee of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and the Deputy Chairman of the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors.
Mr Sivakrishnarajah Renganathan is a career banker who has served Commercial Bank throughout the entirety of his working career; Mr Renganathan has held several key positions in the Bank and been deeply involved in its evolution and growth. In July 2003, he led the Bank’s acquisition of the Bangladesh operations of Credit Agricole Indosuez (CAI), Commercial Bank’s first ever acquisition of a banking operation, and was appointed Country Manager – Bangladesh, in which capacity he led a team of 225 over a five year tenure, building up the Bank’s operations in Bangladesh. On his return to Sri Lanka from Bangladesh, Mr Renganathan was appointed the Bank’s first Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and was responsible for preparing and implementing the Bank’s integrated risk management policy. In April 2011, he was appointed to the pivotal position of Deputy General Manager – Personal Banking in charge of the entire branch network of the Bank . Mr Renganathan was appointed as the Bank’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Executive Director on 17th July 2014.
S Renganathan is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK (FCMA), Fellow of the IFS School of Finance, UK (Fifs) and a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers Sri Lanka (FIB). He is also an associate member of Financial Services Institute of Australasia. He has received extensive Leadership, Management and Banking training in the USA, London, Japan, Thailand, Abu Dhabi, India and many other countries. He has served among others, as a Member of the General Council of the Institute of Bankers of Bangladesh, as founder President of the Sri Lanka Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Executive Committee member of the Foreign Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Prof. A K W Jayawardane is currently the Vice Chancellor of the University of Moratuwa and a Senior Professor in Civil Engineering. He served as the Dean, Faculty of Engineering for six years and as an Endowed Professor in Entrepreneurship at the University of Moratuwa for one year before he assumed duties as the Vice-Chancellor.
He obtained BSc Eng in Civil Engineering Degree with first class honours from the University of Moratuwa, a Master of Science Degree in Construction from the Loughborough University of Technology UK and a PhD in Construction Management from the same University.
Prof. Jayawardane served as the President of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka. He is also a Director of Sierra Cables PLC and a member of Board of Management of several other institutions. He is also a Corporate Member, a Fellow and an International Professional Engineer of the Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL), CEng, FIE(SL), IntPE(SL), Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences of Sri Lanka, FNAS(SL), Founder Member of the Society of Structural Engineers Sri Lanka MSSE(SL) and a Fellow of the Institute of Project Managers, Sri Lanka, FIPM (SL)
Mr K. Dharmasiri is a career banker with over thirty seven years of diversified banking experience both within and outside Sri Lanka. He commenced his career with Bank of Ceylon (BOC) in 1975 and retired as the General Manager/Chief Executive Officer of the Bank in 2013. Prior to the appointment as the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Dharmasiri has performed duties as an Additional General Manager and a Deputy General Manager covering wide range of banking activities mainly, Corporate & Offshore Banking, Recoveries, Finance & Planning, Marketing and Internal Audit.
He has served as a Non- executive Nominee Director on the Boards of Janashakthi Insurance Ltd, Sabaragamuwa Development Bank, Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka PLC, BOC Travels (Private) Ltd, BOC Property Developmet & Management (Private) Ltd, Ceybank Holiday Homes (Private) Ltd, Hotels Colombo (1963) Ltd, Ceybank Asset Management Ltd, Lanka Securities (Private) Ltd, Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka, Lanka Financial Services (Bureau) Ltd and Lanka Clear (Private) Ltd.
Mr Dharmasiri graduated from the university of Colombo with a First Class Honours in Commerce and Holds a Bachelor of Philosophy in Economics. He is also an associate member of the institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka.
Mr Lakshman Dushyantha Niyangoda is presently serving as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of A Baur & Co. (Pvt) Ltd and counts over 30 years of experience with the Company. He is also a Director of Baur Asia (Pte) Ltd, Singapore. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Agriculture) Degree from the University of Peradeniya. He has also served as a Member of numerous professional bodies, including the Council for Agricultural Research Policy of Sri Lanka, Standing Committee of Agriculture and Veterinary Studies, University Grants Commission and Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya.
Ms Nawalage Therese Manouri Shiromal Cooray is the Managing Director of Jetwing Travels (Pvt) Ltd. She is presently serving as the Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors and also serving on the Advisory Council for Tourism.
She has obtained a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Colombo. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
Ms Cooray has held several key positions at J Walter Thompson, Travel Agents Association of Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operations.
Mr Themiya Loku Bandara Hurulle served as a Member of the Public Representations Committee - Sri Lanka Constitutional Reform
He holds a Diploma in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (Dip.R), from the Southbank University, London SE1 and Engineering Apprentices I & II certification from the University of Moratuwa
Mr Hurulle obtained Corporate Membership (M. Inst.R) of the Institute of Refrigeration, Surrey, in 1978.
He was also a Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL)
Mr Kanagasabapathy Sripavan was appointed as the Chief Justice of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in January 2015 and held office until March 2017. During this period he functioned as the Chairman of the Judicial Services Commission of Sri Lanka, Chairman of the Incorporated Council of Legal Education, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Judges’ Institute and Chairman of the Superior Court Complex Board of Management.
Mr Sripavan was enrolled as an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 1977. He obtained a Diploma in Industrial Law from the University of Colombo in 1992 and Master of Laws from the University of London in 1994.
He functioned as the Head of the Court of Appeal Unit in the Attorney General’s Department and handled a large volume of work both in the Court of Appeal and in the Supreme Court including Bills and Fundamental Rights Applications. Prior to the elevation to the Court of Appeal Bench he functioned as a Legal Consultant for the National Savings Bank for two years.
He was appointed a Judge of the Court of Appeal in May 2002 and was elevated to the post of President of the Court of Appeal in March 2007 by his Excellency the President. In March 2008 he was elevated to the Supreme Court Bench.
Mr Manatunge joined Commercial Bank in 1989. He held the position of Chief Risk Officer of the Bank, prior to assuming duties as the Deputy General Manager Corporate Banking. Under Mr Manatunge, the Corporate Banking Division of the Bank experienced rapid growth in the loan book and in areas such as Trade Finance fee-based income while maintaining the quality of advances.
Mr Sanath Manatunge is a director of the Bank’s Maldivian subsidiary – Commercial Bank of Maldives and Bank’s IT subsidiary, OneZero Company Ltd.
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK (FCMA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), Mr Manatunge has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is also a Fellow Member of the Institute of Bankers – Sri Lanka and a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka. Mr Manatunge was instrumental in forming the Association of Banking Sector Risk Professionals, Sri Lanka and was its President in 2014. He has also served as a Council Member of the Association of Professional Bankers (APB) and as a member of the CIMA Thought Leadership Commitee.
He was also adjudged the “Chief Information Security Officer of the Year” at the EC- Council Global CISO Forum held in Atlanta – USA in September 2013 in recognition of his outstanding contribution in strengthening and promoting information security practices.
Ms Judy Lee is a pioneer and leading expert in quantitative risk management and its applications to strategy. She has over 30 years of experience as a banker, capital markets expert and partner in management consulting firms serving CEOs and Boards in US and Asia.
Ms Lee is currently Managing Director of Dragonfly LLC which she co-founded in 2000. The New York based consulting firm provides strategy, risk management and investment advice to Boards, CEOs, CFOs, Business heads in US, Europe and Asia, covering all sectors, corporates, financial institutions and governments.
She is also CEO of Dragonfly Capital Ventures (DFC) which she founded in 2009. DFC develops and invests in renewable energy in South East Asia. DFC also develops investment pipeline in the US for Asian clients.
She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Temasek Life Sciences Accelerator and is an Entrepreneur-in-Residence. She is on the Board of Overseers of NYU Stern School of Business. Ms Lee has served as Board Director of Solar Frontier, a renewable energy subsidiary of Japan-listed Showa Shell Sekiyu.
Ms Lee is co‐author of the books “What Every CEO Must Know About Risk” and “RAROC and Risk Management”.
She was an Adjunct Professor at Singapore Management University where she developed and taught Enterprise Risk Management for 10 years. She has also taught Risk Management at Columbia University, New York.
Prior to Dragonfly, Ms Lee was a key member of the pioneering team that developed quantitative risk methodology at Bankers Trust in the late 1980s. She ran the bank’s daily global risk quantification and reporting. She also worked on derivatives and other capital markets products and was risk manager reporting to the President for BT Securities.
Ms Lee holds an MBA from the Wharton School and a BS from NYU Stern School of Business. She also attended the Women on Boards programe at Harvard Business School.
Since 2000, Ms Lee has lived and worked in both New York and Asia.
Mr Senanayakege Raja Pushpakumara (Raja Senanayake) is a Fellow Member of CA Sri Lanka with 30 years of post-qualifying experience and holds a B.Com (Special) degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura with a second class upper division pass and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management from the PIM of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Having completed his articles at Ernst & Young and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, he joined Singer Industries (Ceylon) PLC in 1991 as the Financial Accountant. In 1994, Mr Senanayake joined Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC as the Senior Manager Finance and worked for 13 years and was the Assistant General Manager (Finance & Planning) when he resigned. He also served as the Chief Financial Officer at the Nations Trust Bank PLC.
He works for Smart Media The Annual Report Company and is currently heading the Smart Academy, an International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) Accredited Training Foundation Partner.
Mr Senanayake is also an Independent Non-Executive Director of Serendib Finance Ltd., a fully owned subsidiary of Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC since October 2014, an Independent Non-Executive Director of Senkadagala Finance PLC since April 2017 and a Director of Virtual Capital Technologies (Pvt) Ltd., a software development company that specialises in enterprise solutions in the real estate, retail and telecom spaces catering to the New Zealand and the Australian markets since August 2017.
Mr Senanayake is passionate about and possesses extensive domain knowledge on the financial services industry, financial management and corporate reporting in particular, including such aspects as risk management, capital management, corporate governance, compliance, sustainability and integrated reporting. Besides many other local and overseas training programmes, he has undergone training on banking and finance with Euromoney and on general management with the National University of Singapore.
Mr Rajapaksha was appointed as Company Secretary on 1st April 2019. He joined the Bank on 7th February 2011 as the Assistant Company Secretary and counts over 16 years of experience in the field of Company Secretarial Practice. He also held the position of Company Secretary of Serendib Finance Limited, a fully owned subsidiary of the Bank.
He is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA – the Governance Institute - UK) and a Graduate of the Institute of Chartered Corporate Secretaries (ICCS) of Sri Lanka. Mr Rajapaksha has had his Primary Education at S Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia.
