CBC took part in the “BIBM job fair 2007” held at Bangladesh institute of Bank Management on 1 st February 2007 where staff of CBC are seen providing guidelines to the interested candidates on the spot.

CBC has participated in a 3days fair, arranged by the ScholarsBangladesh.com for the first time ever for Non-resident Bangladeshis at Sheraton Recently.

With a wide array of attractive deposit schemes and online banking facilities, the staff of the bank provided valuable information to the visitors as to the convenience with which the NRBs can do banking with CBC.

Commercial Bank of Ceylon (CBC) opened its 6th branch at Mid Town Complex (2nd Floor), 79 (old 54), Bangabandhu Road, Narayanganj on 9th December 2007.

Mr. A. L. Gooneratne, the Managing Director of the Bank ceremonially opened the Branch while the High Commissioner for Sri Lanka in Bangladesh H.E. V.Krishnamoorthy graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. The Senior Deputy General Manager Mr. Ravi Dias, Head of Marketing Mr. Richard Rodrigo, Country Manager Mr. Renganathan and the Management Team of the Bank’s Bangladesh Operations were present at this occasion, amid a large gathering of customers and well-wishers.

The Country Manager Mr. Renganathan and Managing Director Mr. A.L. Gooneratne, while addressing the gathering explained CBC’s origins in Bangladesh, presents standing and the future plans for providing superior services to the customers with a touch of excellence. Mr. Gooneratne stressed the commitment of the Bank to continue CBC’s expansion with the support and guidance of Bangladesh Bank.

The High Commissioner for Sri Lanka H. E. V. Krishnamoorthy paid a glowing tribute to CBC for expanding its operation with quality products and services while ensuring excellent services to the customers.

Mr. Assadullah, the Head of the new branch thanked all the guests and customers who were present on the occasion and re iterated his commitment to make the new branch the Best Bank in Narayanganj.

CBC organized a corporate customer get together at the City's newest hotel Westin on 9 th December 2007 , in the presence of Managing Director Mr. A.L. Gooneratne, Senior Deputy General Manager – Personal Banking Mr. Ravi Dias and Head of Marketing Mr. Richard Rodrigo.

Commercial Bank of Ceylon contributed for blood bags of Bangladesh Thalassaemia hospital recently. The Chief Operating Officer Mr. S Prabagar handed over the contribution to the President of Bangladesh Thalassaemia Samity Mr. Omar G. Rabbany while the General Managers Mr. Dilip Das Gupta and Mr Kutubuddin, Deputy General Manager Mr. Golam Mortuza and the advisor of Bangladesh Thalassaemia hospital Mr. Mustafizur Rahman were also present on the occasion.

Commercial Bank of Ceylon donated BDT 1.5 million to the Flood Relief Fund of Chief Adviser recently. The Bank follows the tradition of Contributing to worthy and noble causes such as donation to Islamia Eye Hospital , relief to landslide victims of Chittagong and donation of blood bags to Thalassaemia Hospital in the recent past.

North South University organized "4 th National Career Fair" at Bangladesh China- Friendship Conference Center recently. The bank's participation in the event enabled the potential candidates to gain knowledge on banking as well as submit their CVs.

The fair was inaugurated by the Chairman of Public Service Commission Dr. Saadat Hussain; Honorable Adviser to Caretaker Government Ms. Geeteara Safiya Choudhury also graced the occasion by her presence.

On 19 th July, 2007 , Commercial Bank of Ceylon organized a seminar on "UCP 600" at a city hotel. The corporate clientele and the staffs of the bank were present on the occasion, which was conducted by the Trade Finance department of the bank, headed by Mr. Golam Mortuza. Dr. Toufic Ahmed Choudhury of BIBM was also present as a guest speaker.

Sri Lankan High Commission and the Sri Lanka Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SLBCCI) jointly organized a Business Forum with visiting of Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka, Mr. Rohitha Bogollagama at Pan Pacific Sonargaon recently. The President of FBCCI Mr. Mir Nasir Hossain, Sri Lankan high commissioner to Bangladesh H/E Mr. V. Krishnamoorthy, Minister of Trade H/E Bandula Gunawardena and Bangladesh High Commissioner to Sri Lanka H/E Shahdat Hossain were also present on the occasion. Commercial Bank of Ceylon jointly sponsored the Dhaka University Job Fair and BBA Completion Ceremony, organized by the students of BBA (Marketing) which was held in the premises of Faculty of Business Studies, Dhaka University from 7 to 9 July 2007 .

The fair was titled as " Corporate Bridge " and inaugurated by Prof. Dr. S M A Faiz, Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka while Mr. Mir Nasir Hossain, President of FBCCI was the Guest of Honour. Leading corporate houses such as Maersk Line, Nestle, ACI, Holcim, Citycell etc. participated and the students received the exposure to them and jobseekers got the opportunity to present their CVs to them.

The programs of the fair also included daylong seminars on various topics of Career Planning, Selection and Management. The speakers from different organizations including the participating corporate houses have delivered the lectures to the students during the seminar.

The Staff of Commercial Bank of Ceylon , Chittagong arranged to provide relief material to the victims of Flood and Landslide at Chittagong on 16 th June 2007

Mr. A K Nandy, DGM of Chittagang Branch handed over the relief items of Combank Sports & Recreation Club to the Joint force, Col. Reza Nur Rahman Khan.

In the spot the other Senior Officers were also present to assist Mr Nandy.

Commercial Bank of Ceylon Ltd. has organized a workshop on Anti-money laundering, Phase -II on 16 th June 2007. Mr. M. Mahfuzur Rahman, Acting General Manager and Mr. Swapan Kumar Biswas, Deputy General Manager, Anti-Money Laundering Department, Bangladesh Bank conducted the session. The management of CBC including the Country Manager Mr. S. Renganathan and the staff members of the bank from all the Branches of Dhaka attended the program.
